With an increased commitment to sustainability, alternative proteins are in higher demand than ever before. Each year, the Sustainable Protein Forum takes a closer look at compelling advancements for the systems and solutions that will play a central role in nourishing our world.

The Forum is dedicated to covering the entire spectrum of sustainable protein nutrition from livestock to pets to humans. It also seeks to investigate the sustainable protein industry’s many facets, including quality determination and the sensory science of plant proteins.

History of the Sustainable Protein Forum

November 2019: Pulse Science and Technology Forum

The annual conference was initially named the Pulse Science and Technology Forum: An international symposium on analysis, nutrition and applications of plant proteins. The event was held November 5-7, 2019, in Toronto, Canada, and convened leading research organizations from the USA and Canada.

October 2020: Plant Protein Science and Technology Forum

After a successful first year, the conference continued with a new name that better encompassed its scope. Renamed the Plant Protein Science and Technology Forum, the event was held online in October 2020. Live presentations combined with interactive question and answer sessions gave participants access to the latest information on the analysis, nutrition, and applications of plant proteins.

October 2021: Plant Protein Science and Technology Forum

The third Plant Protein Science and Technology Forum was held online on October 12—14, 2021. Attendees streamed live interactive sessions, viewed ePosters, and experienced unique networking opportunities.

October 2022: Sustainable Protein Forum

As sustainable protein research has continued to evolve rapidly, a new name, Sustainable Protein Forum, was born.

Each successive year, the conference has grown in scope and attendance, becoming the premier event addressing science and technology challenges and opportunities related to sustainable proteins. This year, a hybrid Forum took place live in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and online.
